NECHA is a northeastern U.S. regional intercollegiate ice hockey league with college and university teams represented from all six New England States and eastern New York. All NECHA members are Division II affiliates of the American Collegiate Hockey Association. The ACHA is the largest governing body of National intercollegiate ice hockey in the United States.

All of our hockey programs are fully recognized by their institution and are financially supported soley or by a combination of their athletic department, student government, and individual player fees as well as through other fund raising efforts performed by each indivdual team.

NECHA Member teams are required to play a full regular season schedule assigned annually based on competition level and geographic location.  Each full member team is eligible for the annual NECHA regular season champion & earn invitations to the NECHA Championship playoffs.

Probationary members are teams that have applied for full NECHA membership but have not obtained the necessary eligibility requirements and/or required number of votes from the majority of the current NECHA members in good standing. Probationary members are required to play a full regular season schedule but are not eligible for NECHA regular season Championship or invited to the NECHA Playoffs.

Associate members are teams that have indicated an interest in joining the league and are recognized by NECHA, but are not mandated to play a full league schedule, and are not eligible for league championships or playoffs.
